Free entertainment to people in institutions

Heart To Heart, a non-profit benefit organization,
was founded and incorporated in June, 1991 by performer Jesse
Kincaid to alleviate some of the sense of isolation experienced
by people confined in institutions by bringing them free, live
entertainment. Simultaneously, Heart To Heart provides performing
artists with an opportunity for volunteer community service.
Formed as a response to the needs of Bay Area institutions for
human services, Heart To Heart's goal is to improve the human
condition and enhance the quality of life of those we serve. We
do not charge a fee for any of our shows in institutions. Performers
volunteer their time and talent.
Heart To Heart serves institutions ranging from convalescent homes
and senior day care, to psychiatric facilities, hospitals, cancer
care units and prisons. Numerous performing acts volunteer for
shows, often on a monthly basis. Performer recruitment is an ongoing
program component.
In our first year of service we produced 60 shows, serving a total
audience of 1200 people, with 125 individual performers volunteering
their time.
A Heart To Heart show brings music, laughter and important human
interaction to isolated people. The populations of Bay Area's
senior facilities are increasing dramatically as are correctional,
psychiatric, and AIDS facilities. Heart To Heart addresses the
need to improve the quality of life for people within these community
facilities by providing social and cultural activities, reducing
social isolation, and contributing to emotional health and well
being.
Heart To Heart performers experience an opportunity for community
service, sharing their artistic and personal skills with an appreciative
audience.
A Bay Area performer for 25 years, Executive Director Jesse Kincaid
was Events Coordinator for Bread & Roses for six years prior
to forming Heart To Heart. He singlehandedly schedules and hosts
each performance. Heart To Heart's Board of Directors meets monthly
to maintain the mission of the organization and to take initiative
in funding opportunities. Donations are fully tax deductible to
the extent allowable by law.
Heart To Heart programs reach those people in the community who
would otherwise have little or no access to the performing arts.
